Savannah, GA - Part 1 of 2

We ventured in to the south to celebrate Ian's cousin, Patrick, marrying his love, Lauren.  I'm so glad we were able to make it across the country and spend a few days in this very cool town.  I took a few photos on my phone but I'm also stealing a bunch from the web, so you can see what I saw.  =)

Downtown Savannah was the country's first planned city, and is made up of 22 park-squares.  Every square in the Historic District is surrounded by tons of original architecture and beautiful historic buildings.  Fun fact: most of downtown Savannah was built above cemeteries which is why the city is consider the most haunted in the US.

We kept missing the spook tours.  There was even one super awesome one where you rode in the back of a hertz.

We saw tons of Girl Scouts visiting the birthplace of the GS founder, Juliette Lowe, and celebrating 100 years of girl scouting goodness.  I wonder if there are never ending supplies of Thin Mints in Savannah??

River Street (running along the Savannah River) is the most touristy, happening spot.  Lots of souvenir shops, candy stores, bars and restaurants.

But anyway, back to my re-cap.

We flew in on Thursday night, checked in to our hotel (we were't cool enough to stay in one of the old houses) and went over to the In-Law's place (they were cool enough).  The groom and his dad were cooking up a Low Country Shrimp Boil.  Shrimp - sausage - corn - potato.  Yum Yum.

On Friday we walked all over town.  We hadn't figured out that the closer you get to the river, the more fun stuff there is to see.... and instead, we walked in the complete opposite direction.  But hey, at least we got to see a LOT of Savannah.  We stopped for lunch at a place Ian would call heaven.. a.k.a. The Distillery.  They had an extensive bottle list and my personal favorite, a "do not carry list".  ha!

"No Crap, Just Craft"

After lunch Ian's sister and her fiancee took BK for a bit while Ian and I putzed around River Street.  We got Ian's friend a b-day gift:

Later we went back and got cleaned up for dinner.  Ian's aunt and uncle made some bomb pasta before we all headed over for a post-rehearsal celebration and Moon River Brewery.  BK was nice and slept through most of it so we could enjoy a few brewskies and stuff our faces full of cheesecake and chocolate covered strawberries.

Paradise Point

Our first wedding of the season took place at Paradise Point Resort and Spa on Mission Bay.  We celebrated Ian's firefighter buddy, Harley, marrying his sweetheart Ashleigh.  It was a LOT of fun!

We got there as early as we could, considering all the crazy running around that ensued that day between my morning hair appointment, dropping BK, Kasier and all of their respective "stuff" off with the g-parents, and making sure our house was presentable.

Since I mangled the Accord up pretty good the week before, and it was still in the shop, we left our carseat car with the g-parents and took their Challenger down to the hotel.  We felt pretty cool in it, even though Ian drove it like an old man.  Guess he was worried about being too flashy....

We got checked in, headed to the bar for some much needed sustenance, and went back to the room to get ready.  We got more drinks on our way to the ceremony but FINISHED THEM.  I got a kick out of how many people had drinks at the ceremony.  Is that appropriate outside on the beach?  I guess so...

Highlight of the ceremony -- tortoise ring bearer.  You don't see that every day.  Wish I had a pic! Try to envision a 5 year old pulling a wagon with a grass floor and big tortoise on top.

Let me just say: I am so glad Ian and I got married before he got in to this department and we had to invite all these guys and there spouses.  Don't get me wrong, they are a blast!  But our food and alcohol bill would have probably doubled!

PS - One of my favorite people was at PP shooting another wedding next door, and we were lucky enough to have her snap a shot of us  =)

By Golly....

Where has the time gone?  Where do I even begin to update my ever exciting life?  =)

Of course the most exciting things have to do with our precious girl who seems to be getting more advanced by the second.  I can't believe she is already going on 7 months now.  I want to freeze time; she is seriously the most perfect thing in every single way imaginable.

Highlights include her army crawling across the room.... chasing after her favorite toys, things she shouldn't have, and the hilarious cat and dog.  She thinks the animals are the funniest things on earth.

She loooooooves to eat and I'm having so much fun making her food.  She grunts and growls while you feed her as if you can't shove it in her face fast enough.  We just started giving her puffs.... I could sit there all day watching her so carefully pick them up and attempt to get them in her mouth.  Best ever.

The full-on hysterical laughing and happy squeals get us every time.  There is simply no greater joy.

Ok, so enough gushing for now.  I promise to keep up with this blog a little better now.  We have so many things going on in life at the moment, that I think I'm going to need the outlet anyway. Stay tuned for weddings, travels, house things, Brooklyn things and so much more!
