Feeling great this week! So far, the only time I even feel the least bit preggo is when I’m going to bed and I want to lay on my stomach. Only, my boobies and abdomen are hard and feel weird under the weight of my bod. It’s still the easiest way for me to sleep though.
Last Friday and Saturday I felt so bloated that even my wedding rings were so tight, they were seemingly rubbing my finger raw! It was WAY too early for that! I took them off for most of the weekend and thankfully, my stubby nubs shrank back down some and I can comfortably wear my diamonds again. Oh yeah, and my pants.
I was pretty stoked this morning to learn that I can get pretty much any drink from Starbucks in decaf form. I’m still allowing myself caffeine in small doses though… a cup diluted in the morning, or a tea here and there. Ian also “let” me try my strawberry blond homebrew the other night after I convinced him that the amount of alcohol in a tiny sip would probably dissipate before it even got down my throat. It was yummy.
I feel like I’m a little more liberal when it comes to the gazillion pregnancy “rules”. Since I don’t have too many people to compare notes with at the moment, I like to cyber stalk the other mom-to-bes that are also due in November on JustMommies.com. Then I feel like “the good one” when I read that 80% of them keep up on their pre-pregnancy intake of soda, caffeine, CIGARETTES…. Oh my. That’s about it for now.
Feelin’ good in the neighborhood.

March 17th - 6w1d
Well, a week has gone by and as far as I know, I’m still with child-poppyseed-appleseed-rice grain!?! Ian gave me grief about continuing to take so many HPTs. In reality though, I only re-tested once/day for three consecutive days after the initial first three positives. That’s not too bad, right?
I’ve been feeling pretty good so far. Only little stings here and there like I would feel if Flo was coming, which I haven’t been too concerned about. Chances are, it’s just gas. There is definitely a lot of bloating going on, which I partly attribute to the increased water intake.
These past two days have actually been worlds different. I hardly feel anything at all… very minor bloating, much less sensitive tit-tays, and virtually no cramping, stinging, etc. I did however, feel like going to bed at 9 last night. So that’s what I did.
News that we are expecting is slowing trickling through family – grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins… Everyone is thrilled of course. Although Ian’s little brother thought he was getting another cousin, and wasn’t too stoked on the idea that really he will be 10 year old “Uncle Coley” to the little tyke. We promised we wouldn’t call him that… at least not till he was older. ha!

March 10th - 5w1d
I feel a little less crazy today. Like it’s sinking it. Although it doesn’t feel real, it feels more normal. I’m going to take another test tonight though, just to make sure yesterday wasn’t a complete fluke. ;)
I went ahead and scheduled an appt. with the OBGYN for the earliest they would see me. March 31st when I am estimated to be 8 weeks along. That appointment can’t come soon enough! I could schedule a visit with my PCP to have my blood drawn and further confirm this news, but the more I read, the more I feel that the chances of multiple false positives in a row are pretty slim. I’m hoping I can just wait it out.
I can definitely see that I have boarded the roller coaster of spontaneous emotional combustion. It comes in all forms, be it hysteria, anger, sadness, and extreme joy… often all at the same time. Totally explains why I would tear up at pictures of a retiring fire chief holding his infant son during an honorary dinner celebration I attended the evening prior to my testing positive. I didn’t even know the man for crying out loud.
I love that Ian is so excited that he wants to tell everyone he comes in contact with and it’s only been one day. At the same time, I wish he’d show a little more restraint. It’s soooooo early and I’d hate to have to un-tell a bunch of people if things don’t turn out the way we plan. Other than our parents/immediate family, I’ve told only a couple friends and he’s a few of his own.

March 9th - 5w
The first week of March left me feeling curious, as I was having virtually none of my usual PMS symptoms except for more-sore-than-normal jugs. I tried not to think much of it since my two previous cycles had been unusually long (40 days) and I figured Flo would come to visit sooner or later.
I got up this morning and figured – eh – what the heck…I’ve got a cheap-o test lying around from the dollar store so I may as well pee on a stick. Planned for that night was the Total Tap Takeover event at our new favorite local watering hole, so I’d feel better enjoying my Sour Wench brewskie if I had the all-clear. But instead, to my pleasant surprise, two lines appeared!
I’d always figured if I ever did get a positive test, I’d wait until I took a few more (you know – for confirmation? like 10 confirmations) before actually breaking the big news to my husband. I couldn’t. I went into our bedroom, woke him up and said “look, I think I’m pregnant!” He glanced at the pee stick, kissed me and rolled back over. I wondered if he’d remember that encounter when he actually got out of bed later. LOL
On my way to work I stopped by CVS and dropped 40-something buckaroos on 2 boxes of tests. Three of the pink first response ones and a couple clear blue digitals. I guess they figure psycho-maybe-pregnant-woman will pay anything. Ian did remember. He called at about 8am and asked if I’d tested again… I was still waiting till I had to “go”. About an hour later I was too anxious so I took my test and forced a stream upon it. (That was a pretty literary description, right?!?) It wasn’t enough though. I got ZERO lines this time. I told Ian I’d have to try again later using the pee-in-cup-and-dip method, to which he responded “That sucks. So you peed all over your hand for nothing.” How did he know that?
I figured I’d wait until after my 10 am meeting to try again… but 10 minutes prior, I had the sudden urge to go. Sign much? So gathered a mini coffee cup from the kitchen and went about my business. After a 5 second dip and a minute later there it was – another clear positive.
Another positive at night, told the parentals, scheduled an OBGYN visit.
Sinking in that this is quite possibly the real deal.. I feel a little neurotic right now. Like I want to go crib shopping and create a baby registry. I know I have some 35ish weeks to figure this stuff out but how can you not be excited for something so amazing? I think it’s going to feel like a looooooong wait for the kiddo to actually get here. I guess in the mean time I have to let go of nursery themes and focus on taking care of my preggo self.
Damnit, I won’t get to try all the beer I bottled this past weekend! Oh well. Such is life.
*PS - Ian absolutely did make fun of me for taking pictures of my pee sticks.

Hi Again. Long Time No Talk.
Time to revive this bad boy! I left off right before our trip to Costa Rica (review of that to come soon, promise). Most notably, that was the trip in which it seems we conceived our BABEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
I've been keeping a pregnancy "journal" along the way that I'd like to post here so bare with me. Looking back at it now, I realize I wrote excessively and some of you may be bored to tears. Good thing I don't care though since it's my blog and I'll do what I want. :)
